A native of Burma who immigrated to the United States with his family in 1968 when he was three years old, Rich became the first Asian-American general manager in American major league sports when he served as General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers from 2010-11 and again as General Manager for the Charlotte’s Hornets in 2011-2018. Rich also spent ten seasons as Assistant General Manager of the Seattle SuperSonics and Oklahoma City Thunder. Prior to his career as a General Manager, Rich worked as an engineer for Boeing and served as the Vice President of Legal for the SuperSonics from 2005-07. In his free time, Rich founded an interactive food blog site called Bigtime Bites to bring food lovers across the country together. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Miranda and Annika.
